James is the Senior Elder at Fountain Gate Church, Nairobi, and together with his wife, Dr Lucy Ng’ang’a, they have an apostolic ministry that equips church leaders for the establishment of the mature church of God.
James is also the Convening Elder of Grace Table, an apostolic resource center where church leaders and ministers have been gathering weekly to share grace and build relationships since January 2013.
Together with Lucy, they lead a family of relating ministers known as FARM – Fellowship of Apostolic Restoration Ministries – which is an umbrella body that covers their sons in the ministry. James Mbugua also serves in the board of Kenya Council of Church Alliances and Ministries (KCCAM).
James and Lucy belong to the Gate Global Family of churches under the leadership of Thamo and Mirolyn Naidoo
