Family
James Mbugua is married to Dr Lucy Ng’ang’a. They are blessed with three daughters, Jewel, Joanna and Juanitta.
Ministries
In April 1999, James went for a mission in Harare, Zimbabwe. It was there that the Lord gave him a prophetic word that changed his life. The message was, “Son, you need to transition from an evangelistic pattern to an apostolic pattern of ministry. Your ministry needs to be based in a local church where you shall raise, equip and send other ministers. Go back home and plant a local church. Id you obey me in this, I will restore the international traveling ministry to you later in life.”
The word brought conviction in him and he made up his mind to obey. He cut short his mission in Harare and came back to Nairobi to share this information with his wife and ministry partners. This led to the birth of Fountain Gate Church after a period of 40 days of prayer and fasting on Sunday 14th Novermber 1999 with a mandate to “Refresh Lives to to Transform Nations”.
Music Ministry
James is a gifted musician who enjoys playing various instruments, including keyboard, bass guitar and acoustic guitar. He often plays along with Incense International, the worship music ministry of Fountain Gate Church in the services, and at various special worship events such as Spirit of Worship.
He also teaches and trains music ministers to have proper grounding in the word as they minister. As such, he hosts various teaching seminars targeting music ministers such as the Music Ministers’ Forum and WISE – Worship Impartation Seminar.
Several prophetic words have been given regarding his music ministry that continue to shape his expression of music and that of those around him, particularly in Fountain Gate Church, Nairobi.
