First edition of the English translation by Joan Riviere, printed at the Hogarth Press by Leonard and Virginia Woolf. Pencil ownership signature on the first free end page of Margaret E. Fries, a New York City pediatrician and child psychologist working in the 1920's and 30's. Pen and pencil notes and underlining found all through the text. The pages are a little yellowed and the page edges are age toned. Binding is sturdy. Covers are worn around the edges and the cloth is frayed at the corners of the covers and at the head and base of the spine. The spine is a little faded. No dust jacket.
